Just after college, I worked for two years in The Kingdom of Morocco where I first started taking pictures. After returning to the US, I studied in Monterey, California where I visited the Adams and Weston galleries, read Steinbeck, and spent as much time as possible studying at Point Lobos, and getting lost in Big Sur. After working on a fishing boat in Alaska in '89, I saved some money and bought my first 35mm camera--a Canon Rebel that I still use.

After graduate school, I worked in Washington DC for a year and a half, my introduction to life on the East Coast. I worked, took some trips and read the international job listings hoping something better would come along. It did and we were getting married and going off to France.
